The organizers of the Political Equator II, in conjunction with TRANSITory PÚBLICo | PUBLIC TRÁNSITOrio , invite you to a two day (November 16-17, 2007) trans-border happening, sponsored by the Visual Arts Department of UCSD, the haudenschildGarage, Casa Familiar, Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), and inSite and co-sponsored by the University of California Institute for Research in the Arts (UCIRA), Division of Arts and Humanities of UCSD, Woodbury University San Diego, The New School of Architecture, and Lui Velazquez, collaborating with Patronato de Arte Contemporaneo (PAC) and Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA).

Political art that is refreshingly amoral
A migratory installation of artists, activists, and militant researchers: in art spaces, parks, and a museum; around a university, under a bridge, and on the train.
Los Angeles, November 13-20, 2007
These events will bring together artists and activists from throughout Latin America and Los Angeles to create public discussions and performances in Santa Monica, Westwood, Hollywood, Downtown, and on the way to Tijuana.
Participants include: the Internacional Errorista (founders of the errorist movement); Argentine militant performance group Etcétera; Brazilian antiracist art group Frente 3 de Fevereiro; activist sound art collective Ultra-red; BijaRi, an interventionist design+performance+VJ collective from São Paulo; Argentine art and environmental organization Ala Plástica; La Lleca, an artist social intervention based in the prison system in Mexico City; Guatemalan performance artists Regina José Galindo and María Adela Díaz; Ecuadorian performance artist Jenny Jaramillo; and Los Angeles performance ensemble Butchlalis de Panochtitlan. Participants also include leading feminist artists Mónica Mayer, from Mexico City; Kirsten Dufour, from Copenhagen, and Suzanne Lacy, from L.A.; the Mothers of East Los Angeles; the former Eastside Artistas; anthropologist Pilar Riaño-Alcalá; Boyle Heights community garden Proyecto Jardín; the Boredom Patrol; editors of the magazines Make/shift and LOUDmouth; Xicana/Indigenous filmmakers collective Womyn Image Makers; the creators of just space(s); The Journal of Aesthetics & Protest; and architect Teddy Cruz.
Events take place November 13th-20th. They are free and open to all publics. TRÁNSITOry PÚBLICO will be held in English, Spanish, and Portuguese with English and Spanish translation available at all events.

Arte político refrescantemente amoral
Una instalación migratoria de artistas e investigadoresmilitantes: en espacios de arte, parques y un museo; en torno a una universidad, debajo de un puente y en el tren.
Estas actividades reunirán a artistas y militantes de toda América latina y Los Angeles, para crear discusiones públicas y performances en Santa Monica, Westwood, Hollywood, Centro de Los Angeles y el camino a Tijuana.
Participan: la Internacional Errorista (fundadores del Movimiento Errorista); el grupo argentino de performance militante Etcétera; el grupo de arte brasileño antirracista Frente 3 de Fevereiro; el colectivo militante de arte sonoro Ultra-red; BijaRi, colectivo intervencionista de diseño+performance+VJ de São Paulo; la organización argentina de arte y medioambiente Ala Plástica; La Lleca, una intervención socio-artística que actúa en el sistema penitenciario de México D.F.; las artistas guatemaltecas de performance Regina José Galindo y María Adela Díaz; el artista de performance ecuatoriano Jenny Jaramillo; y el conjunto de performance de Los Angeles Butchlalis de Panochtitlan. Estarán, además, las destacadas artistas feministas Mónica Mayer, de México D.F.; Kirsten Dufour, de Copenhage, y Suzanne Lacy, de Los Angeles; las Mothers of East Los Angeles (Madres del Este de Los Angeles); los ex Eastside Artistas; la antropóloga Pilar Riaño-Alcalá; el Proyecto Jardín Boyle Heights; The Boredom Patrol; los editores de las revistas Make/shift y LOUDmouth; el colectivo de cineastas xicano/indígenas Womyn Image Makers; los creadores de just space(s); The Journal of Aesthetics & Protest; y el arquitecto Teddy Cruz.
Las actividades se desarrollarán del 13 al 20 de noviembre. Serán gratuitas y abiertas a todos los públicos.
