Sprout City Heights

Sprout City Heights encourages urban food sustainability by providing space and resources for those in the community to share their knowledge. We, at the Free Skool, want to promote food instead of lawns. Sprout City Heights resists the dominant food culture that promotes a lack of understanding and appreciation for where our food comes from. So, we will grow it ourselves, we will maintain our own communities through healthy organic agriculture. All are welcome because we all need to eat!

What Is In The Garden?

We have been hard at work in the garden even during the hot summer months. During the past months we have learned a lot but we would like you to join us.

At Sprout City Heights we have been learning more about companion planting. Right now we have the tomatoes growing with the basil and the cucumbers with the dill. Both of these plants grow well in the hot summer months but the do even better when they are paired with their companion plant.

We also have some new seedlings: okra, bell peppers, corn and more tomatoes. Please join us and get dirty.

Little Tomatoes

Little TomatoesOne of our small tomatoes hidden within the healthy tomato plants. We grew our tomatoes with basil because both do better together.
